Dear readers, here's what I liked the most (and I'd like to have in my wardrobe as soon as possible) from Milan catwalks for Spring/Summer 2012. As you are going to see, there are great absents in my wish list.
Let's start with D&G. I was a great fan of Stefano and Domenico's work some years ago, but then I focused on other designers because I found they had lost something of their original estrus. Their SS 2012 collection made me change my mind: it is like a blast from the Nineties, a serie of colourful prints on silk that remember a mix of Gianni Versace's golden age and Hermès's iconic scarves. Shirts, blazers, pants, bathsuits, canvas bags and moccasins become masterpieces of textile art, look for yourselves. Denim, as usual, define D&G casual image.
Another show with some interesting garments was Versace's one, probably because in this collection there was a lot of what was Gianni's style. I particularly appreciated the bathsuits, the dressing gowns and the evening blazers with the belt-like closure.
Last but not least, Alexander McQueen. I still prefer female collections by the British house, but this time I saw something to-die-for also on the men's catwalk. What do you think about the flame print? Probably the jacket is really too much, but the shirt... Love it!
Last but not least, Alexander McQueen.
